Foreign Shores (Inagural Poem)

Too well I know the ocean's swell
In her fierce storms I've been through hell
But in my knowledge strength I found
I knew her strength and knew her bounds

I braved her storms in strength of this
Who fears that which they know?
And sought for Eden, and my bliss
Where e'er her winds did blow

I often thought I spied some shore,
Mirages plucked from desert lore
But as I sought to grasp that ground
Another tempest's rage I found

But once I reached that shore so faint
Thanking the Lord and all the saints
But neath a covering of green
Hid terrors I had never seen

I wandered on that isle fair,
I thought I'd found my rest
Until I found disaster's lair
And that place failed the test

I fled away all in terror then
Far from the horror of that den
Into more storms and trials til
I felt that I had drunk my fill

But every time that life seemed grey
And all its glories fled away
I found a beauty or a peace
So from my search I'd never cease

Yet now at last another shore
Is almost neath my keel
But I fear what I fled before
And that old dread I feel

What if this isle too is doom?
What if I'm wrong once more?
The terrors of the other loom
As I draw near the shore

But Eden's beauty sings to me
And I must heed her siren call
So though I wish to turn and flee
I'll stand here, or I'll fall

Your ryhme scheme is consistant and simple; the rhymes themselves are unforced. There's some slight variation in the meter, but nothing major.

I'm not sure if you're talking about Robinson Crusoe or a path through life. Images aren't strong, but perhaps they weren't the point. Perhaps you refer to the migration to Blogspot?

Keep it up!

life. specifically as relates to my personal (ie love) life.

Very clear imagery, I thought. But maybe that's because I knew exactly what you were talking about. Lovely.
