Oh if I could

Dedicated to someone who will probably never see this page.

*ahem*

Were I a miner of the earth
Of treasures you would have no dearth
I'd give you gold and solver bright
And diamonds shimmering with light

Were I a sailor of the seas
I'd give you gifts from the Indies
Sweet spices and rich woven silk
White ivory and honeyed milk

If I was skilled in music's art
I'd play you songs to soothe your heart
Make syphonies writ just for you
And your sweet soul with music woo

If I could paint like da Vinci
I'd paint the beauty that I see
Your golden hair, your luminous smile,
Your eyes that do my heart beguile

If you are hurt I'll cry with you
If you're threatened I'll die for you
When you are near all sorrows cease
And my perturbed soul finds peace

And if I was a poet true
I'd write all of my poems for you
But since I none of this can do
I give my life and love to you

Be gentle if you need it not
If your heart's love burns not so hot
And if you can never love me
Let me your faithful knight e'er be
